Check & Connect is a program at Wilmington Middle School that was developed at the University of Minnesota. It's goal is "for mentors to work with their students for at least two years, providing consistent and ongoing support."
Mentors are community members and 11th grade students who will commit to 2 years of bi-monthly meetings with 8th graders that are struggling with attendance, behavior, and academics. "Mentors meet once a month for additional training on interventions and data collection to track progress" and hope to have a positive impact on these struggling kids.
